FAQs
If I hire the Beloved Birth & Beyond Collective who will be my doula?
When you hire us, you’re hiring a wonderful doula duo. If your primary doula needs backup, this ensures you will be covered with continuous support by one of our dedicated team members, either Kahla or Natalie. They are both committed to providing the best care possible throughout your birthing journey.
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a mother before, during, and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
What are the benefits of having a doula?
Studies have shown that having a doula can lead to a reduction in the length of labor, lower rates of cesarean and other interventions, and a more positive birth experience. Doulas offer personalized care, emotional support, and can help facilitate communication between the mother and medical staff.
How is a doula different from a midwife?
A doula provides non-medical support during childbirth, whereas a midwife is a healthcare professional who provides medical care. Midwives can perform clinical tasks such as delivering babies and providing prenatal and postnatal care, while doulas focus on providing emotional, physical, and informational support.
What types of services do you offer and how much does it cost?
We offer a range of services including doula support, childbirth education, and 1:1 Body Assessments. Please visit our pricing page for more details.
Will I still be supported if I plan to have a medicated or cesarean birth?
Absolutely. We support all types of births, whether you plan to have a medicated birth, cesarean delivery, or a natural birth. A doula’s role is to support your choices and ensure you have a beloved birth experience.
How would you support my partner?
We love to provide guidance and support to partners, helping them to be more involved in the birth process. You doula can offer suggestions for comfort measures, explain medical procedures, and ensure that partners also feel supported and included.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Coverage for doula services varies by insurance provider. I recommend contacting your insurance company to inquire about reimbursement for doula services. We can provide you with the necessary documentation to submit a claim. Please note, Natalie accepts Tricare, so if you’re a Tricare beneficiary, you may have additional coverage options.
